While some people prefer to have bright red hair, others prefer a more natural look and choose a darker shade of red.
Similar to most hair colors, there are lots of different shades of red hair, it all depends which shade you would prefer. Some are a lot darker than others, which if you’re thinking of dying your hair red but don’t want it to stand out too much, would be ideal for you.
A great feature of dark red hair is that although it might not look very red, when light catches it sections of it tend to almost shimmer or glow a hint of red! It can look quite amazing when you see it. Dark red hair can also make you look very sophisticated, compared to bright red hair which can give an impression of a fun and excitable personality.
Will Dark Red Hair Suit You?
Deciding if dark red hair will suit you can be tricky. If you’ve dyed your hair a darker color before and it suited you and you liked it, there’s a good chance that a dark red color will look good on you too. Remember it’s all about your skin tone, if you go too dark then it might not look quite right and also if you go too light it might not right! You have to find the color that will suit you the best.
What might look good on one person may not look good on another, however if you see someone with a hair color you like, but that particular color wouldn’t look right on you, you can always find a slightly darker or slightly lighter color that will suit you better.
If you have naturally dark eyebrows or if you tend to dye your eye brows a dark color then a dark red hair color will almost certainly suit you better than a lighter shade. Of course you can always dye your eye brows a lighter color if you wanted to have bright red hair but to make things easier for yourself you could just stay with what you already have and dye your hair to match.
Be careful when dying your hair dark red if you already have quite dark hair, this applies whether you dye it yourself or have it dyed at a salon. Sometimes if you choose a color that is too dark, it will make your hair go almost black!
Your stylist will know what they are doing if you tell them what you want, but it you’re doing it yourself make sure to check how dark your hair is likely to go (most diy hair dyes have examples on the packaging) or try it on a small section of your hair first!
